Fire and Smoking Restrictions
Effective Monday, June 14, 2004, @ 8:00 am - Gila National Forest
Restrictions are based on the current fuel and weather conditions in the local area. New TANKERS!!!
Remember the new tanker pumper we had been working on buying? We anticipate actually receiving that truck in the November or December 2004 timeframe. What a great truck that is going to be!

In December, we received notification that we had been selected to receive ANOTHER new tanker pumper through the Governors Grant Program. At first we thought it might have been a mistake of some sort....(more)

Fire Prevention Patrols - Keeping Your Community Safe!
Memorial day weekend Fire Prevention Patrols began. You will see members of your Sapillo Creek Volunteer Fire & Rescue out patrolling during the weekends looking for lightening start and abandoned camp fires. We also have Smokey the Bear goodies for the kids (and adults). We and other Volunteer Fire departments will continue to patrol probably until the end of fire season.(more)

WHAT IF THERE WERE NO VOLUNTEERS?

w What would you do if your home or business catches fire, and the nearest firefighters are 1 hour away?
w What if, your elderly father or mother visits your home and one of them has a heart attack, or; your child falls and is laying on the ground, unconscious, and there is no trained medical help available?
w What if, you or someone else in your household suddenly has an extreme breathing problem, and the nearest oxygen tank is 30 or more miles away?
w On the financial side, what if, there were no “class 9” fire dept. close enough to prevent your homeowner insurance premiums from tripling?
w Residents in our community do not have to consider any of these worse case financial and emergency scenarios. At least for now. Our pocketbooks, lives and property are protected by Sapillo Creek Volunteer Fire & Rescue.
w Aside from lack of funds, there is only one other cause that could force our fire & rescue dept. to close up shop in the foreseeable future. A critical lack of volunteers.
w Several long-time volunteers in our dept. moved away recently. In addition, new volunteers are needed to step forward and ease the burdens of those who have already given a tremendous amount of their time and talent over many, many years. A lot of these earliest volunteers are still with us, but we cannot expect them to serve us forever.(more)
